Artist’s statement
Fiona Brett Blything graduated in Fashion/Textiles (Embroidery) from Manchester School of Art in 1980, and has sold her work worldwide, notably to Liberty’s of London and designing one off garments for well known musicians in the 80s and 90s. She was Head of Art at a Chester girls’ school for many years and has also worked as a designer in industry.
My work is concerned with exploring colour, layering and atmosphere, using a mixture of media. I am interested in suggesting a sense of mystery, depth and other-worldliness in my work, while attempting to celebrate the world around us and the people in it.
