Artist’s statement
Michael Pittman was born in 1993 and raised on the Wirral.
The creative process opens a dialogue for me to engage with myself and is essentially what pushes my practice. By applying differing textures and formats of mark making, I attempt to wrestle with the surface to pull an image out from the materials. I extract from observations of organic forms and use various naturally occurring media to imitate nature in my images. By imitating nature I seek to make art that lives, but clings to its life. Trudging through endless fields of golden mud, oil and dust.
